Syntypes: (4) RMNH 30583 [ex 5552] (3 of several), 5552 (now 1). Based on multiple sources, the syntypes from Indonesia, on Anthias macrophthalmus Bloch 1792 and questionably on Priacanthus japonicus Cuvier 1829 [= Cookeolus japonicus (Cuvier 1829)]. Habitat: marine.
