Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), East Africa, Socotra (Yemen), Comoros, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia) and Pitcairn Group, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands (Japan), south to Australia, New Caledonia, Lord Howe Island (Australia) and Rapa (French Polynesia). Habitat: marine.
