Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: East Africa, Socotra (Yemen), Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar and western Mascarenes (La Réunion, Mauritius) east to Hawaiian Islands (U.S.A.), Marquesas Islands (French Polynesia) and Ducie (Pitcairn Group), north to southern Korea, Kagoshima Prefecture (southern Japan) and Ogasawara Islands (Japan), south to Lord Howe Island (Australia) and New Caledonia; eastern Pacific: Clipperton Island (France). Habitat: marine.
