Type catalog: Bauchot & Daget 1972:90 [ref. 20898], Bauchot & Desoutter 1989:30-31, 39 [ref. 15502]. Based on Commerson manuscript and figure; Commerson specimen MNHN A.5445 was not seen by Lacepède and incorrectly was not therefore regarded as the type; if it is the specimen on which the manuscript and/or figure is based then it is a type. •Synonym of Paracirrhites forsteri (Schneider 1801) -- (Randall 1963:403 [ref. 3599], Fricke 1999:356 [ref. 24106], Parenti 2003:495 [ref. 27322]).
