Distribution: Red Sea; Indo-West Pacific: Algoa Bay northward (South Africa), East Africa, Persian Gulf, Socotra (Yemen), Seychelles, Madagascar and Mascarenes (La RĂ©union, Mauritius, Rodrigues) east to Mariana Islands, Tuamotu Archipelago and Marquesas Islands, north to Korea, Russia and Japan, south to northwestern Australia, New South Wales (Australia), New Caledonia and Austral Islands. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.
