Current status: Valid as Rachycentron canadum (Linnaeus 1766). Rachycentridae. Distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and subtropical seas, but not in eastern Pacific (including Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Sea of Japan). Now invasive in eastern Pacific from Panama south to Ecuador. IUCN (2015): Least Concern. Habitat: marine.
